Meet Katrina Cebreiro
Katrina Cebreiro is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, director, and producer based in Los Angeles.
Her genre-blending film Inheriting Hood received widespread recognition for its bold narrative — a young woman tries on the hood life after being jumped, teaming up with her long-lost cousin to retaliate. The film stars Gloria Ines and Ana Marte (Need for Speed).
Her family comedy Ghost Boyfriend won Top Film of 2022 at Indie Night Film Festival, founded by Dave Brown, and also took home an award in the Episodic category at the HBO-Sponsored Official Latino Film Festival.
Her sketch comedy Federal Approved Parent, starring Liliana Montenegro (Sacrifice on BET), won Best Sketch Comedy and Best Sketch Comedy Actress at the HBO-sponsored Official Latino Film Festival.
Her short Addict, featuring Emilio Garcia-Sanchez (The Society on Netflix) and Danielle Vega (East Los High on Hulu), was an Official Selection at the same festival the prior year.
Katrina’s work has screened at acclaimed festivals including the Catalina Film Festival, and her films have been featured by NBC, Deadline, and VoyageLA. In 2017, she was a finalist for the prestigious Sundance TV Lab.
She holds an MFA in Screenwriting and a BA in Cinema & Television Arts from California State University, Fullerton. Katrina began her career through internships and worked her way up in the industry, earning credits on major productions including TMZ, Conan, and Warner Bros. She has served as a director’s assistant on a major motion picture, an assistant to an A-list actor, and held a role at a top talent agency. She also works in production on high-profile music videos and national commercials.
